Romance scams often seem to begin innocently enough: a message on Facebook, a match on Tinder, a charming stranger on Hinge or OK Cupid. But behind the screen, many victims are being groomed by criminals (sometimes even criminal networks) that know exactly how to weaponize loneliness, grief, and hope.
