"What a Drag it is Being Old," said the Rolling Stones, so Mom goes running for the shelter of a little yellow helper.
Your mom may have a physical or psychological dependence on prescribed drug or alcohol. If physical dependence, her body will rely on taking the drug to feel normal. If she stops, she will have withdrawal symptoms.
Withdrawal symptoms may include: cravings, problems with sleep, irritability or agitation, feeling restless, trouble concentrating, mood changes, feeling depressed or anxious. Also, headaches, aches and pains, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. Severe could include confusion, and disorientation. Withdrawal symptoms can last for a few days or weeks. Cravings can last longer.
