Open AI’s ChatGPT has caused quite a stir, with some thinking it could disrupt Google's very important and very lucrative Search business. 

While we have seen stories of startups disrupting incumbents, over the last 15 years or so the norm seems to have been that these potential disruptors are acquired or copied before being able to do any serious damage.
