When the Heart Calls episodes

  • 39 The Healing Benefits of Surrender

Have you ever truly, honestly surrendered with your whole being?

Humans, like the rest of nature are programmed for survival. From the moment we’re born and encounter the world, with safety and security the primary need. When our needs aren’t met, even in the smallest of ways, the nervous systems remembers - the body keeps score. Over time we become conditioned to protect the deepest parts of our soul.

In this episode, I share an experience of vulnerability when the mind surrenders, no longer being a servant to the ego. To unlearn old patterns of programming, we need not only exposure to new experiences, but the courage to linger in the awkward newness while the body acclimates to a new normal.

It’s one thing to surrender in the presence of another aided perhaps by body language, words and emotions. Surrendering - with full faith conviction - to the God intelligence of the universe is quite another, at least it was for me as I witnessed the ego desperately vying for control at the edges of fear.

If this sounds even vaguely familiar I invite you to pause, breathe and remember that all is love. When we choose a new pattern, opening ourselves to love, we begin to reclaim and heal buried parts of our soul.

May you continue to hone discernment as you take what resonates and let the rest fall away.

  • 38 Trusting the Signal - When Doubt Debuts as Distraction

Does anyone truly know the origin of dreams and thoughts that enter the mind, often awakening us at night?

What if the intelligent universe is always sending signals, to support and guide us?

Why are we so quick to dismiss the signals the brains receive, choosing skepticism over faith?

In this episode, I reflect upon a threshold moment of awareness, a choice between blind faith of infinite possibility and distraction rooted in fear and doubt - an attempt of the ego to control the journey.

May this reflection be an invitation … to pause, to awaken, and to notice thoughts that we so often take for granted. May we soften the edges of long held rigid beliefs, recognizing the moment of choice as it arrives, then choosing with care how to respond.

We are not our thoughts. And yet thoughts shape our reality.

Be the change you want to see in the world … one thought at a time.

  • 37 The Paradox of Perfection - Compassionate Self-Acceptance

In this episode long standing beliefs of perfection are explored, embraced, and gently released. The reflection explores the paradox of perfection, inviting the listener to consider a new definition, one that encompasses quirks, blemishes, and irregularities.

This marks a turning point where I recognize and shed more layers of ego that once held perfection as a destination, something elusive to achieve, to be worthy of, and to strive for.

It’s me choosing and turning towards deeper of faith, a re-alignment with authenticity, integrity and radical self-acceptance for the imperfect perfection of being human.

What if we accepted our fellow humans with the same unconditional compassion and open hearts, not needing apologies or explanations? How might this shift the energy of relationship to all that is?

If this stirs feelings of being more deeply grounded and peaceful … I invite you to keep leaning in.

Take what resonates. Let the rest fall away.

  • 36 Surrender vs. Control - Learning to Let Go of the Outcome

What if we’re not actually in control of our life’s path?

What if we’re part of something far more intelligent, creative, and interconnected than the mind can comprehend?

In this episode of When the Heart Calls, I explore the tension between control and surrender—how the ego grips, plans, and attaches to outcomes, and how life gently (and sometimes not so gently) invites us to release that hold.

Through a recent personal experience, I share how subtle signals—repeating messages, dreams, and intuitive nudges—revealed where I was forcing an outcome instead of allowing life to unfold. What looked like intention was, in truth, attachment. What felt like direction was, in part, control.

This reflection opens a deeper inquiry into discernment:

When are we being asked to stay and grow through challenge—and when are we being invited to let go?

Surrender is often misunderstood. It can feel like loss, like uncertainty, even like grief. But it is also the doorway to trust, to alignment, and to possibilities far beyond what the ego can orchestrate.

If you’ve ever struggled with letting go, releasing timelines, or trusting the unknown, this episode offers a grounded, lived perspective on what it means to soften into the unfolding of life.

What might you be holding too tightly?

And what becomes possible when you loosen your grip?

Take what resonates. Let the rest fall away.

  • 35 Aches, Energy & the Body’s Wisdom: The Physical Side of Transformation

What if physical pain isn’t always a sign that something is wrong—but a signal that something is changing?

In this episode of When the Heart Calls, the often-overlooked physical dimension of personal transformation is explored. Drawing from lived experience with chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, and long-term medication use, the profound shifts that occurred when realigning with the inner truth are shared —including how the body responded in unexpected ways.

As the nervous system recalibrates and old patterns dissolve, the body can move through waves of discomfort, fatigue, and sensation. But what if these experiences are not only about releasing what no longer serves—but also about the body reorganizing itself in response to a new way of being?

This episode invites you to consider a different relationship with physical symptoms—one rooted in curiosity, presence, and trust in the body’s innate intelligence. Whether you view these changes through a scientific lens or a more energetic perspective, you’re encouraged to listen inward, soften, and allow your own truth to emerge.

Rather than rushing to fix or define every sensation, this is an invitation to be with what arises… and to honor the possibility that transformation is not only emotional or spiritual—but deeply physical.

  • 34 Why do the Same Patterns Keep Showing Up in Your Life?

What if the patterns, triggers, and experiences in your life aren’t random—but reflections of your inner world?

In this episode, we explore the idea of life as a mirror—where external circumstances, relationships, and even daily frustrations may be revealing something deeper within us.

Rather than offering fixed answers, this reflection invites you into curiosity:

to pause, observe, and consider a new way of relating to your reality.

Whether you’re skeptical or open, this is an invitation to experiment—

to notice what repeats, what stirs emotion, and what might be asking for your awareness.

Transformation doesn’t always begin with certainty.

Sometimes, it begins with a single question:

What if this is showing me something?

If life is a mirror… then awareness is the moment we begin to see clearly

  • 33 Living by The Golden Rule: When Loving Means Letting Go

Living by the Golden Rule — treat others as you wish to be treated — sounds simple in theory, yet in real life it often asks far more of us than we expect.

This episode of When the Heart Calls, is a reflection on a deeply personal experience after returning to my childhood home to visit my elderly mother. The visit stirred memories of family dynamics that began decades earlier after my father’s death, and the difficult realization that love sometimes means releasing control.

Through honest reflection, the subtle ways ego can shape our expectations of others is explored — even when we believe we are acting out of care or concern. Learning to honor another person’s autonomy, even when their choices are painful to witness, can require grief, humility, and courage.

This conversation becomes an invitation to look inward:

Where might we be projecting our hopes, fears, or expectations onto others?

What does it truly mean to respect another person’s path?

If the Golden Rule asks us to treat others as we wish to be treated, then perhaps it also asks us to allow others the dignity of their journey, their way — just as we seek the freedom to walk our own path.

  • 32 The Stories We Tell Ourselves - Choosing A New Narrative

The stories we tell ourselves shape far more than we realize. Our beliefs, perspectives, and long-held thoughts quietly form the narrative through which we experience life.

For much of my life, the story I carried was one of struggle, survival, and endurance. It was the lens through which I interpreted everything that happened to me. But over time — and through profound loss — something in me began to question that narrative.

What if life wasn’t happening to me, but for me?

In this episode, I reflect on the moment I began shifting that perspective and experimenting with a different lens. A small but powerful practice of reframing the story I believed about my life.

This is not about denying pain or rewriting the past. It’s about recognizing the quiet power we hold in choosing how we see our experiences — and how those choices shape our reality.

If you’ve ever felt trapped in an old narrative, this episode is a gentle invitation to pause and reflect.

What beliefs are shaping the story you’re living?

And if the page were blank… what new narrative might you choose to write?

Topics explored in this episode include mindset shifts, reframing beliefs, personal narrative, healing after loss, perspective change, and conscious self-transformation.

  • 31 Courage to Change

What if the discomfort you’re avoiding is actually the doorway to the life your heart has been quietly asking you to step into?

What if, instead of retreating to what’s familiar, we recognized vulnerability as the threshold of personal growth, remembered our WHY, and summoned the courage to change — lingering just long enough for new patterns to form?

In this reflection on overcoming perfectionism and releasing perfection paralysis, we explore the fear of change, the comfort zone that keeps us looping, and the quiet mindset shift that happens when we choose practice over performance.

When we embrace life with gratitude and curiosity — allowing ourselves to play, stumble, recalibrate, and grow — we invite more of our authentic selves forward.

This episode gently examines repeating patterns, self-sabotage tendencies, and the courage it takes to step outside the comfort zone in service of meaningful change.

  • 30 Energetic Hygiene

In this episode of When the Heart Calls, I share the ah-ha moment that reshaped my long-held Western science beliefs and forever changed my relationship with health and healing.

What if the body is not merely matter, separate from consciousness — but a dynamic cluster of energy?

How might we approach nourishment, healing, and dis-ease differently if we viewed ourselves as energetic beings?

This episode gently explores the intersection of science and spirituality, introducing the concept of energetic hygiene — tending the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual layers of our human experience to support vitality and quality of life.

A brief yet powerful invitation to reflect on the frequencies you consume, the beliefs you hold, and the daily choices that shape your well-being.
