When We Make Our Own Way - Genesis 16

“What is wrong with what I did?” We all have probably said this statement countless times already. We do not see any problem with what we did because everyone does it anyway. Abraham and Sarah were already old yet still bore no son, so Sarah thought of making what any couple would do to remedy their problem of childlessness - bear a son through their servant. Everything that happened next was truly regrettable when God proved that He saw and cared for Abraham’s problem. Abraham’s own way only became a picture of the difference between man’s work and God’s promise. "Why shouldn't we do things our way?". Let us learn as we study Genesis 16.
