When Will These Things Be, Part 1 – Be On Guard

Listen Later

Be ready, the end is coming soon! Yes, I know, it’s just the start of the year, and we’re already talking about the end of the world. Fun stuff, right? We’ll be looking at this on Sunday because in our text through Mark 13:1-23, the disciples asked Jesus, “When will these things be?”, referring to the end of times.
Many people have tried to figure out exactly when this will happen, but Scripture is clear: no one knows the day or the hour. Jesus didn’t give the disciples a specific date, but he did describe signs that would indicate the end is near. He didn’t share these details so we would live in fear or obsess over predicting the future, but to point us back to him.
Life is full of distractions, and it’s easy to get caught up in temporary, meaningless things. As followers of Jesus, we are called to live faithfully for God, continually trusting him each day. So, what does that look like with the end in view?
Join us as we reflect on Christ, our hope, and what it means to walk faithfully with him as we patiently await the day when we will see him face to face.

And so I…
…proclaim him (v. 9-10)
…depend on him (v. 11)
…endure for him (v. 12-13)
…expect from him (v. 14-17)
…wait on him (v. 18-20)
It is remarkable that in all of his writings Paul’s prayers for his friends contain no appeals for changes in their circumstances.

…trust in him (v. 21-23)
