The actions of this mother is the essence of many of the problems plaguing the black community today.  Lacking a sense of pride, feelings of abandonment, lacking respect for others are just a few core issues that come to mind.  If we don't actively work to turn this around from a sense of inner work our existence as Black people will most likely meet its demise.
