  • Episode 156 – Why I still F**k with the MCU

    ***SPOILER ALERT***

There is all this talk about how horrible Phases 4 and 5 are compared to the previous phases. I shall tackle that argument. I also want to talk about how there really isn't Superhero fatigue. I do a spoiler filled review of Echo (a positive one I might add). Also I STAY WOKE!

  • Ep 155 Old Heads Talking

So much has happened at the end of 2023

and the beginning of 2024. Where should I start?

Well, I do some reviews. I review “The

Color Purple.” I review TWO books: “It's not you, It's
Capitalism!” By Malaika Jabali and illustrated by Kayla E. I also
review Black Thought's book “The Upcycled Self.” I do a little
push back on the idea, bought up again by Katt Williams, on how
Hollywood “emasculates” black men by having them dress in drag for movies and tv shows. I talk about Yaasin Bey's remarks about Drake. I drop a few jewels on some things we should leave behind in 2023 throughout the entire ep.

  • Episode 154 – Invincible Overview feat. B-boy Cabi

    ***SPOILER ALERT***

For this episode, I bring back my oldest son and resident geek God, B-boy Cabi. We do a deep and nerdy dive into Invincible the comic book and the Amazon Prime show. We get nerdy and once again SPOILER ALERT not just for the Invincible properties but other Robert Kirkman properties. Don't say we didn't warn you.

    Enjoy!

Episode 153 – A quick Hip Hop Ginger

    Shot Pt. 3

This will be the last “shot” in the

series that focuses on the 50th anniversary of hip hop
    culture.

I do a quick confessional of what I am

feeling and why I was hesitant to release this episode. I give you
two movie reviews. One of them on the “One Four” Documentary on Netflix. I give you a review of the New “Godzilla Minus One.” I
talk about Diddy and the recent headlines about him. I spend time on the article by Jason England entitled “50
Years later: Is there anything left of hip hop?”

Read the article before listening to the podcast, though.

  • Ep 152 - the 50th Anniversary of hip hop ginger shot Part 2

Episode 151 – A quick Hip Hop Ginger

    Shot Pt. 2

    For the 50th Anniversary of

Hip Hop, I wanted to talk about hip hop culture in a few episodes.
In this ep, I do a review of the movie “Beat Street.” I also review “The Big Payback” by Dan Charnas, a book you all should read. I also discuss the interview with Dream Hampton by Helena Andrews-Dyer in the Washington Post
(https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2023/08/12/ladies-first-netflix-documentary-dream-hampton/) - Please read before listening to the episode. I also discuss Men's Health tribute to the 50th Anniversary of hip hop.

  • Episode 151 – A Book Review on “Ring Shout” by P Djeli Clark feat. April

    ***Spoiler Alert***

In this episode I get to hang out with

the big homie April. She is an educator and an avid book reader. She
recommended this book to me and I enjoyed it. I thought it would be a
dope idea to do a podcast episode on it and nerd out. It is a dope
discussion about trauma from white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.
    We cover so much ground.

If you haven't read the book, we spoil

    it like a mug.

If you want to support April's students

  • Episode 150 – A quick Hip Hop Ginger Shot Pt. 1

    For the 50th Anniversary of

Hip Hop, I wanted to talk about hip hop culture (duh Danny). Instead
of spending one episode on it, I decided to do a series of short eps
    about it.

In this ep, I talk about the 5 elements

of Hip Hop Culture. I take a shot at the ADOS about their dumb
opinions about Dj Kool Herc. I do a review of the best hip hop movie
of all time: “Wild Style.” I do a review of Jeff Chang's “Can't
Stop, Won't Stop: A History of the Hip Hop Generation.”

Shout out to ZMO for always staying on me about anniversaries and special moments in the culture.

Once again, it was his idea to do this dope tribute to Trugoy the Dove aka Plug Two aka Dave of De La Soul. We nerd out, we do history of the culture, production, and De La's influence on us all. Get ready to take notes and go down memory lane.

Man I am so late with this.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Part of this was recorded in December and the 2nd half in January.

In March I shall turn 50! So I touch on that a little. I do discuss the Kwanzaa principle of Ujamaa.

I have a book review on “The 5 Principles” by Stic of Dead Prez. I do a short review of Star Wars Andor. Of course I have to talk about resolutions.
