Pop To The Loo

"Where’s the rave at? Does it have a loo?" - Cass’ Journey with Crohn’s Disease

Listen Later

Welcome back to the second episode of Pop To The Loo with Cass and Sarah.

During this episode Sarah interviews Cass on the following: -

  • the journey through her (very long) diagnosis which eventually results in a hospital admission,

  • the investigations carried out to determine what the mass was on Cass’s small intestine,

  • what medical treatment route the clinicians took and prescribed Cass prior to discharge,

  • Cass’s personal side effects from medication,

  • the liquid diet that Cass claims saved her life,

  • being at school whilst drinking her “miracle drinks”,

  • Cass becoming a hormonal teenager whilst being diagnosed, fancying other patients in hospital (!!), starting her beloved drum & bass raves (which she still attends now but ending them with a camomile tea) and socialising with friends at such a young age with certain restrictions in place,

  • continuing to play sport,

  • more toilet stories (obviously),

  • how having solid (ironic) friends (especially in toilets) is essential in managing IBD,

  • how Cass tells (her many over the years) boyfriends about her illness,

  • misconceptions over Crohn’s Disease,

  • And finally, advice from Cass to anyone who has been newly diagnosed or has lived with IBD for a long period of time.

The episode provides further insight into Cass’s determination, drive and hilarious attitude towards her illness. With a sprinkle of her sarcasm, darkness and humour, this episode is not one to miss.

This episode is actually about IBD, can you believe it?!

For anyone who wants to hysterically laugh, not listen to anything politically correct, empathise and relate to two professional women who continue to work far too many hours, study when they have no free time to do so, date all the wrong and right men, love a glass of vino and have so many poo stories that will ensure Cass, in particular, will never date again, make sure you tune in.
