Which Social Media Platforms Should You Use

Picking a social media platform can be overwhelming. Good news...I'm here to help you out sister. Two things you need to know before you make the right decision: understanding your goals and knowing your audience. 

If you're just starting out, you shouldn't be on all the social media platforms. Since you're only one person, you want to make sure you master a platform first before attempting to handle others. 

FOMO happens when we see someone doing something, and it's working, so we want to do it too, but that's not always the best strategy since their businesses and ideal clients are not the same as ours. Stay in your lane. Figure out what makes sense for your business. 

Understanding your goal for social media is the first step. It's important to know what you want, personally and professionally, before deciding what platform to use. Maybe it's money or followers, but why not both? Your goals will help you determine the best plan.

The second thing you need to know before choosing your platform is who your audience is. Discover where your ideal client hangs out. If your ideal client is older, not as tech-savvy, and hangs out on Facebook...you shouldn't put all your eggs on Instagram. You have to know where your ideal client is hanging out before going all-in on that platform. 

In the beginning, I suggest maybe one or two platforms to master. After you have mastered that platform you can then decide which one would be the next best for your business. And as you grow you can hire others to help you with some of the backend of the new platforms. 

Building an email list should go hand-in-hand with your social media strategy. Remember when social media crashed back in 2021? What if it never recovered? Mark Zuckerberg owns your audience, not you. It's a scary thought if you don't have a backup email list to nurture. Guess what? Email has the highest conversion of sales to date.
