Bhavana is the founder of Caregiver Saathi and Sambhavana, the initiatives that aim at dignifying care-related work and valuing emotional labour and also the global ambassador of Global Moto Adventures.
As a seasoned HR professional and life coach, she not only holds multifaceted expertise but also harbors diverse passions.
We label everything, defining relationships, duties, and roles. And among the most well-defined roles are those of woman and man. In a time when women riding motorcycles was forbidden and speaking one's mind was considered rebellious, Bhavana had a #privileged childhood—or so it seemed.
"It was a gift that came with a cost." For Bhavana, raised in a liberal family that supported her every endeavor, the death of her father marked a profound shift. As she took on the role of primary provider, she felt stripped of her #emotions, her title as daughter, and the luxury of feeling cared for.
This episode raises profound questions: Why do we assign rigid #labels to femininity and masculinity? Why must men be the providers and women the caregivers? And how does being the eldest child, thrust into responsibilities, rob us of the liberty to be #vulnerable, carefree, and rebellious?
And more importantly, why is the caregiver so neglected in our society? Why do we ignore the #emotional labor that caregivers perform? And how can we heal ourselves as we care for others?
