Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and the W&W boys are serving up a double helping of trophies this week! To whet the appetite, the newly-minted, absolutely massive Freedom Trophy for the Badgers and the Huskers. And as your main course, the Land Grant Trophy for the Spartans and the Nittany Lions. A whole heaping of good times and good whiskey on the side, and that's a menu that'll leave your eardrums satisfied.
When the W&W fellas were workshopping the concept for Tales of the Trophies, Floyd of Rosedale was our litmus test. How intriguing are these trophy tales? Is there enough content to curate a podcast? Is it provocative enough to get the people going? One look at ol' Floyd, and we got our answer. On top of that, the boys turn a classic shooter into a delectable cocktail that helped a tumultuous week of college football go down a bit smoother. And if that's not enough, this episode is 1:11:11 long and it's dropping on 11/11. Shout out our numerologists in the audience. We couldn't have planned that if we tried.
Folks, what comes to mind when you think "Iowa vs Nebraska"? Gritty, tough football. Big dudes just stacking pancakes up and down the field. Massive titans on the gridiron, locked in battle. Corn. Lots of corn. And this trophy embodies all of that. This thing is a freaking colossus, George Kittle needs two hands to carry it. Seriously, check our Instagram @whiskers.whiskeys, it's crazy, I swear.
Folks, we've got a good one for this week. The boys dive into a damn exciting week of college football, and we preview a pretty cool trophy that... maybe doesn't make a lot of sense for these two schools? But hey, who am I to judge? You mess with the bull, you get the horns - amirite? Hook 'em. Gosh, I miss when Texas was back...
Folks, we're in the double digits! And we've got one hell of a special episode to celebrate this monumental occasion. Our buddy Adam from New Holland swings by and gives us the scoop on the latest and greatest being hopped and distilled by the Targaryens of Michigan. After that, we dive into the man, the myth, the legend that is George Jewett — an absolute stud of a renaissance man and the subject of college football's newest trophy presented to the winner of the matchup between the Michigan Wolverines and the Northwestern Wildcats. Ol George wore fisherman sweaters that made Chris Evans look like a hobo. He'll truck stick you then write you a prescription for the headache. Seriously, the man is a legend.

Our tales thus far have highlighted some pretty unique origin stories — but this one may be one of the weirdest yet. It takes a special kind of person to get fired up for an old spittoon taken from a midwest trading post in the 1800s, but it works for the Spartans, Hoosiers, and at least one of our co-hosts. The boys are even joined by a special guest Sparty grad, and we have a hell of a time dissecting all of the action from a wild Week 6. Come laugh with us.

This episode was an absolute DELIGHT! Like the audio version of two young lads fighting over the last piece of fried chicken at dinner. We dive into the tall tale of the Paul Bunyan Trophy between Joe's Michigan Wolverines and EJ's Michigan State Spartans (fka Aggies, fka Staters - lol). And Mike had a front row seat to instigate - erm, witness - the whole thing. Enjoy the show, folks. AND DONATE TO THE GOPHERS AND HUSKERS, FOR THE LOVE OF PETE!

Many of the trophies we've discussed till now have a long, distinguished history rooted in ancient lore — a magic Civil War bucket, an homage to one of our nation's greatest presidents, an embodiment of the hard working Iowa farmers... Yeah, not so much here. Just a Twitter beef taken to the next level. But when Twitter gets something right, they get it REALLY right — and that's exactly what happened with $5 Bits of Broken Chair. Folks, any endeavor that begins with a boilermaker is bound for glory and filled with laughs. The W&W Boys may make this a tradition to start every show. We felt like we were shot out of a CANNON - which is perfectly fitting given this week was all about the Purdue Cannon! Come join us on this ride and fix up a nice little boilermaker of your own - you owe it to yourself!
Top o' the mornin' to ya, lads & lasses! Gather round, pour a wee nip, and get absolutely bollocksed with the boys as we tell the tale of the Shillelagh Trophy — the pride of the Fighting Irish and the Boilermakers! (I hope you read this in an Irish accent, it hits much harder with an Irish accent. But I've pretty much exhausted my capacity for witty Irish slang, so I'll just say — join us for this ride. It's a good one. We get off the rails a bit. Hey, a Boilermakers reference. Good for me. Good for us. Cheers.)
