Edition und hebt sich mit seiner besonderen Fassauswahl deutlich von den beiden anderen Octomore Whiskys ab. Der Islay-Whisky wurde zunächst in ehemaligen Oloroso- und Bordeaux-Fässern gereift, bevor er in Madeira- und Moscatel-Fässern ein komplexes Finish erhielt.

Die Basis für diesen Vierteljahrhundert-Whisky ist eine 25-jährige Reifung in speziell für Glenmorangie angefertigten Ex-Bourbonfässern aus amerikanischer Weißeiche. Diese Fässer verliehen dem Destillat eine typische, samtige Struktur und elegante Noten von Vanille, Honig und reifen Früchten. Der The Altus ist eine Verbindung dieses in Bourbon gereiften Whiskys mit einer kleinen Menge Glenmorangie, der in Malmsey-Madeira-Weinfässern gereift ist und eine Anspielung auf die bahnbrechende Veröffentlichung der Brennerei aus dem Jahr 1995 mit Madeira-Finish.
