We have our International Women's Day episode. Meet Dr. Connie DePinho, who has a unique story spanning three countries and continents.

Listening to Connie tell her story about her journey was one of those occasions where I wanted to take a seat and be the audience and just listen. It was an honor to have Connie in the studio sharing how she and her family navigated pre-colonial Angola to the end of fascist Portugal before arriving in the United States. 

I am grateful that Connie chose to share profound moments, such as discovering her father's legacy is still alive in Angola on this podcast. Never underestimate how far the seeds you plant can grow.

It's always fantastic to have Linda Adria Sebasiho join us in the studio. For this episode, we dived into the world of entrepreneurship and dating based on Linda's experience. From influences on Linda to the contradictory nature of how African women are expected to perform according to a "cultural standard" when it comes to business, raising a family, and more (set by who?) 

In discussing both dating and entrepreneurship, there are lots of crossovers where both topics are intertwined. It's not just limited to Congo, Nigeria, or Africa, as you would see, multiple issues apply to people all over the world (be it correctly or incorrectly) when it comes to both topics.

Welcome to the 20th episode. I decided to try something unique and get a panel to have a chat around the largest sport in the immigrant community, which is football, also known as soccer to many. Two friends of the podcast in returning guests, Azam Ayub and first-timer Mark Butler, join me in the studio for this special occasion. 

It's not just soccer that we ended up talking about over a few beers. We also brought up some childhood memories, even realizing that as kids, we started developing talents thanks to the game. History, racism, club vs. country, and more experiences get explored. Mark drops a gem at the very end too. I can't thank both guests enough.

Heads Up: There's some talk of trauma and abuse during this episode!

We have a returning guest in Karrel, and she is not alone this time, her sister Kari Carter is in the house as we return to the beautiful Trinidad and Tobago. Kari made me laugh so much that I lost track of time. 

We touch on some heavy topics in this episode, such as immigration, dealing with a father who isn't the picture that you imagined, and forgiveness. Hold up; it's not all darkness here. There's plenty of light, and that's why this podcast exists. Kari can be a motivational speaker or should consider having an audiobook at least. For once, I wished I made a video recording of an episode. A big thank you again to the awesome Karrel for making this episode possible.

We also had for the first time my daughter in the studio during recording. Surprisingly she was quiet most of the time (her mom showing up during recording also kept her distracted).

On my way to the studio, I got the news that basketball great Kobe Bryant, along with his daughter Gianna, her teammate, her family, coaches, and pilot, had lost their lives in a crash. Kobe, during the early years of his life, got to experience life overseas (in Italy), thus fitting into what this episode was trying to capture. Life, as experienced by Americans abroad for this episode, told by two Marines.

Down the line, we shall be bringing more episodes but from different perspectives of Americans in other professions. In this episode, Daniel Perez and Ephraim Agbenor walk us through how their years in the Marine Corps created life learning and changed perspectives forever after experiencing other cultures outside of the United States. Curfews, food, culture shocks, language barriers amongst many addressed in this episode that's quite different from the usual. 

The goal is for everyone to learn, through the sharing of experiences and our journey.

Isra Elsalihie is the first actress to be a guest on our podcast. The talented and future award-winning actress educates us in this episode removing layers of ignorance concerning the Swedish immigration implementation, the Swedish education system, and the big one — the International Actor's most significant barrier to working in the movie industry. Amina's biggest passion is for her nonprofit charity, "Amina's Helping Hands." An organization that she uses to bring smiles to countless children and youth in The Gambia.
