We were made to know God. Yet knowing “of” or “about” God is not the same as knowing Him.

In order to be categorized as a Christian who is either “weak” or “strong” in faith -without being guilty of committing sin in the process- Paul gives us 5 conditions we must use to examine our beliefs. We covered the first 4 conditions in Part 3. In Part 4, we will focus on the 5th -and most crucial- condition. It’s the one that many Christians would prefer to just skip over because it involves doing something that our flesh -our natural tendency to gratify our own desires- would have us ignore. However, this condition is extremely important because there is so much at stake…

In Part 2 of this series, we introduced the concept of Christians who are “weak” in faith and Christians who are “strong” in faith. In Part 3, we are going  to answer the question of “which one am I?” If I am strong, does that mean I am right? If I am weak, does that mean that my belief about a particular subject is wrong? If it is wrong, am I sinning by believing it? Should a “weak” Christian strive to be a “strong” Christian? In the end it all comes down to a matter of “conscience”…

Some Christians say it is OK to drink alcohol, others abstain from it altogether. Some avoid cutting grass on Sundays, others say it is no big deal. The list goes on and on... Who is right? When the Apostle Paul addresses similar disagreements in his letters to the Romans and the Corinthians, he creates two categories of Christian: Those who are "strong" in faith and those who are "weak" in faith. (Genesis 14:17-20)

Other than Genesis 14, there are only two other places in scripture that the name “Melchizedek” is mentioned: Psalms 110:4 and Hebrews 5,6,7. Despite his relatively minor role in Genesis, a study of the other two passages of scripture reveal a deeper and more powerful truth about this Priest-King. In this lesson, we will learn how the priestly order of Melchizedek compares with that of the Levitical priesthood… and how the Messiah, Jesus Christ is connected to the entire passage.
