As we continue to study Paul's letter to the church at Thessalonica and spend a second week in chapter 4:13-18, we will see a common theme throughout Paul's and the Apostles writings and the teachings of Jesus Himself that we are called to live holy lives as we wait on the blessed hope of the church, that being the return of Christ and His introduction of the age to come.

This week we continue Hope in Affliction with Part 2: Rescued and Delivered, from 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18. Some in Thessalonica were grieving as if the dead in Christ would miss the Lord's coming. Paul says no. Jesus died and rose; God will bring them with Him. The Lord Himself will descend with a cry of command, the dead in Christ will rise first, and then we who are alive will be caught up together with them—and so we will always be with the Lord.
