    Chad Bales was very blessed he was not hurt worse….you might not be. Back in 2016 I had a treestand accident that really opened my eyes on tree stand safety and has made me want to strive to help teach others more about it! Even with my accident in 2016 I still managed to get out and put two nice bucks on the ground for the year! My 2017 however was a tougher season… only seeing a few small bucks and a few nice bucks but never got a shot.. You owe it to yourself, your family, your friends, your wife, your kids, your buds and everyone that yuor life touches to be safe, be connected and never assume but check your gear. I strive to be the best bowhunter I can, I strive to be the best bowhunter I can, and my outlook is the trophy is in the eye of the bowholder. I truly believe I was successful because of the amount of time I invested into harvesting each deer…not during the actual hunt, but the weeks and months before. i actually hunted fewer days in 2017 than I ever have since I started hunting. 2 of the 3 bucks I killed the first-time in. The other took 10 days, but 7 of those were spent hunting other areas waiting for the right conditions. I am a fanatical trail camera user. they are a huge part of my success. That has led to me now working for Radix Trail Cameras. I also spend lots of time studying weather data and comparing it to trail camera photos. I am also a hardcore shed hunter. I have picked up over 70 so far in 2018. I don’t hunt large acreage, just small, many times marginal farms (fence-rows, cattle pastures, etc), I just get creative and work harder than anyone I know. 2 of the 3 bucks I killed the first-time in I live and breathe the deer that I hunt. I do not own any land. I hunt on permission, leased, and some public land. To date, I have taken 20 pope and young class or better whitetails.     I enjoy almost every aspect of being an outdoorsman. This definitely comes from my father, who I still hunt and fish with frequently. Although I love fishing, hunting turkeys and small game, now hunting whitetail deer is definitely my passion. I started bowhunting when I was 14 years old and have taken a deer with my bow in Ohio ever since. I do the majority of my hunting on public land. Two years ago I purchased a small property in southern Ohio, bordering Wayne national forest. This is 200 miles south of my home in northern Ohio, Huron county.     I have taken many bucks in Ohio, mostly in the national forest. I believe I have 7 that would gross pope & young. Of these 5 are 150 class or better, although most have not been officially scored. The largest of these of course being "The Hammer Buck " which grossed over 260 and netted 254 1/8. It was the largest free ranging whitetail taken in North America in the 2014-15 season. This buck was taken 3 miles from my home in Huron county, and not on public land.     I own Antler Action Outdoors, a company I started in 2015. My signature product is a rattle call of my own design and patent, that I have been using with great success for years. It is the lowest motion rattle call ever made, and the only rattle call that is remote and not electronic. It's 100% American made, guaranteed for life, and legal in all 50 States. It allows the user to" get the sound on the ground " and away from the hunter. I do use trail cameras, but on a limited basis and rarely during season.

    I prefer more traditional scouting, like my spotting scope and good old fashioned reading sign in the woods. It gives me more satisfaction than looking at photos, and I appreciate the extra time in the woods.

    Also on public land, trail cameras are frequently stolen and the deer there are far less tolerant of human intrusion. So checking cameras, in my opinion, can often do more harm than good. I am a scent control freak, and set the majority of my stands months in advance. I prefer to hunt from a tree stand and keep about 20-25 stands in circulation.

    I give the wind complete respect and keep detailed logs of my hunts. I use topo maps diligently and track both moon phase and position. I plant food plots on my property but have never hunted deer there, yet.

    Born and raised in Southeast Missouri, Walter Parrott found his love for hunting and fishing at a very early age. What started out as putting food on the table, turned into a lifelong passion that Walter enjoys teaching others to carry on a great tradition.

    Walter started competitive turkey calling in 1978. He is the only person to win every major turkey calling contest. Walter is a 5-time World Champion, 5-time Grand National Champion, 3-time Team Grand National Champion, Grand National Champion of Champions, 16-time U.S. Open Champion (Open Division, Friction and Champion of Champions) and has won World, The Masters, Mid-America Open and many state and local competitions.

    Walter is a well-known speaker for his seminars and also his generosity in helping with youth events and enjoys passing along his knowledge and love for hunting and fishing.

    Walter is one of the original members of the RedHead Pro Hunting Team for Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World as well as a co-host for Bass Pro Shops 100% Real Hunting.
    He was one of the first pro staff members for Realtree and has maintained a great friendship with Bill Jordan all these years.
    Walter is the key spokesman for Indian Creek Shooting Systems.
