Whitney Elizabeth Houston born to Emily "Cissy" Houston a Grammy Award–winning American soul and gospel singer in her own right; her father John Russell Houston, Jr an Army serviceman and entertainment executive. Born August 9, 1963 & departed life on February 11, 2012. She gave birth to a daughter Bobbi Kristina from her marriage to Robert Barisford "Bobby" Brown, an American R&B singer-songwriter, occasional rapper, and dancer.  Whitney "Nippy" known to her family was an American recording artist, actress, producer, and model. In 2009, the Guinness World Records cited her as the most-awarded female act of all-time. Houston began singing with her New Jersey church's junior gospel choir at age 11,she influenced several African-American female artists to follow in her footsteps.
