Tyler shares a sentimental reflection back when he was in high school. As his grandfather became more ill, Tyler shares a conversation he had speaking with his ailing grandfather and that his grandfather told Tyler that he would "try like hell" to keep up with him as a runner!

Tyler McCandless is a professional distance runner, coach and PhD student (with current BS and MS degrees in Meteorology from Penn State). He runs between 90 and 100 miles per week, 50 weeks out of the year.

Tyler travels all over the world to compete in marathons, including both local USA Cross Country Championships races in Boulder and faraway competitions such as the Kauai Marathon in Hawaii. 

He is currently working in Boulder, Colorado studying Meteorology with a focus on solar power forecasting. His current goal is to earn his PhD before the 2016 Olympic Marathon trials and be a contender for the Olympic team.
