The US Constitution initially required Congress to enact Federal criminal law. As the government has expanded its power beyond its constitutional authority, the managerial state usurped the legislative power of Congress and now routinely creates law through regulation. These laws are so numerous and so broadly written, that the average American could be charged with as many as three felonies per day. This is obviously not the mark of country founded in liberty. The trend of appealing to international authority is accelerating. The "leaders" are bought and paid for and now they just need to take the next step toward seeding sovereignty to far away, unelected and unaccountable officials who want to lock you down permanently for God knows what reasons. We need to make sure we stop this now before it goes much further. The purpose of free people studying history is to avoid being ensnared by the schemes of future tyrants. To understand this history one has to search long and hard for those that can tell the TRUE history. As the state apparatus grows and gains power over institutions, it becomes increasingly difficult to discover this TRUTH. Today we look at an article in Mises.org by Dr. Guido Hulsmann where he traces the roots of this tyranny and how the liberalism of the US Founding initially excluded this history. The political division we see today is this coersion wielded by the state coming back into the body politic. It's confusing and not so easy to see the individual connections. We look into this history to remind our listeners about the past and give them the words to resist repeating these old ideas implemented many times in the sorted history of socialism.

The New Socialism is a Public-Private Partnership

On May 2, 2023 Joe Biden lied about the history of the US defaulting on its Debt. The US Government has had at least three debt defaults by other means. The first was in the wake of the Civil War when the US Government promised to pay its war debt in gold. The government defaulted on this promise and paid in notes. A very significant default happened under the Roosevelt administration in 1934 during the aftermath of the onslaught of New Deal programs. The President declared a bank holiday and then moved the peg to gold overnight from $20 per ounce to $35 per ounce. Also, citizens were forced to surrender gold in safety deposit boxes for fiat currency. The most recent default took place during the Nixon administration in August 1971. President Nixon temporarily closed the gold exchange window defaulting on foreign holders of U.S. debt. This gold exchange window never re-opened.

In my mind, the January 6th event and the response our government has given to it is one of the great injustices the US has ever perpetrated on the citizenry. I know that's pretty strong, but I always say that an individual who will use the force of government to administer injustice to a fellow citizen is an extremely evil person and is not worthy of a jail cell much less an office of power. I don't know why Chris Christie is running for President again. I think his popularity peaked about 15 years ago. He also seems to be part of the problem, meaning he is aligned and part of the managerial state. He thinks the war in Ukraine is good and he doesn't believe the US is tough enough overseas. What is he thinking? The reality is Chris Christie is a tyrant. I haven't heard him criticize the response to COVID. He doesn't think there is anything wrong with how we have prosecuted protesters from January 6th, and there is no shortage of countries around the world that he wants to go push around as President. I think we need much less of what Chris Christie has in store for us, and instead, we need a whole lot more liberty!

Government is the only organization that claims a monopoly on the use of force, so it's no accident that people from the government are always talking about how they can push this group around or compel that group to do something outside of its interest.
