There is a lot of noise about undocumented immigrants overwhelming the healthcare system, but the data tells a very different story. Undocumented individuals are actually the least likely to seek medical care, because every hospital visit carries the fear of being discovered and deported. They only show up when it is absolutely unavoidable, yet when they do, their outcomes are worse and the costs are higher. They are a tiny part of the system, but just like other vulnerable groups, they absorb the consequences of delayed care.
The real danger is the way this narrative is weaponized. Politicians use immigrants as scapegoats while policies that harm the middle class, the working poor, and even healthcare providers slide through unnoticed. If you want to be a powerful physician who creates change, you must understand not only medicine but the economics behind it. When future doctors understand how money flows, how insurance works, and where dysfunction begins, they can finally fight the disease in our system instead of its symptoms.
Each week, I’m bringing strategies for:
💪 Locking in that bulletproof mindset.
⏰ Cutting the nonsense and getting productive.
🧠 Studying smarter, not harder.
🩺 Streamlining your path to med school.
If you're serious about medicine, this is where you need to be!!
