There is a lot of noise about undocumented immigrants overwhelming the healthcare system, but the data tells a very different story. Undocumented individuals are actually the least likely to seek medical care, because every hospital visit carries the fear of being discovered and deported. They only show up when it is absolutely unavoidable, yet when they do, their outcomes are worse and the costs are higher. They are a tiny part of the system, but just like other vulnerable groups, they absorb the consequences of delayed care. 

The real danger is the way this narrative is weaponized. Most premeds stress over research, but the truth is this. Medical schools care far more about whether you understand the reality of clinical medicine than whether you have a stack of research hours.
