Mark Saal and Don Porter are co-hosts of The Media Scrum podcast. They began working at the Standard-Examiner newspaper in Ogden, Utah, one week apart in 1985. Don was the film and TV critic until 1996, when he was named editorial page editor, where he remained until 2008 — jumping into public relations at the local natural gas utility. Mark began as a sportswriter, but soon segued into feature writing. He was a humor columnist, news reporter and editor until mid-2020, when he accepted a job teaching English at Ogden’s Ben Lomond High.

His work has been seen on celebrities on the red carpet and people all around the world. He was born and raised in the island of Samoa but now resides in Utah. His creative and fashion abilities was heavily influenced by his late mom.
