A Long Island native who made his way back to New York during Covid is sure to offend you, make you laugh,  or at the very least, make you think. A lot of the mainstream narrative and neo-liberalism puts people in a position where they have to bend to the will of the woke mob, or else...

All of us are healing from something. Unfortunately, most of us are swimming in a lot of toxic, codependent, or less than loving situations therefor learning what love FEELS like is the first step to truly transforming our relationship with ourselves, and with others. 

But what does that really look like and mean? When do we take care of ourselves? Is conditional love just as healing? 

Robin Mack, a leader and activist in the GLBT and recovery community, cohosts with me on how to create more empowered relationships. Robin is someone who has had her own share of trauma and adversity, but who also walks the talk of personal transformation. I was fortunate to meet her at the beginning of my "real healing" journey, as she taught me what it means to feel safe and loved with other people.

In this episode we dig into:

• What it means to heal through being seen in our power. How do we hold a safe space for people.
• How to let people make their own choices.
• How to acknowledge our limitations in helping others and doing our own personal work when helping others. 
• How we hold this safe space for other people so we can start to experience what love feels like and attract a more supportive tribe.
• When is "tough love" or conditional love appropriate.
• How to take care of our own self-care.
• She also touches on sexual trauma, recovery, the GLBT community, safe self-expression.

In this solo show, I break down the shadowy side of how we codependently try and change people, fix them, or show them the light. I give multiple examples of how this type of "managing" people shows up, and why it's not unconditionally loving. I also talk about the subconscious and unconscious imprints, wounds and reasons we are showing up in this toxic way which makes relationships sticky. No one wants another mother or father.

On this episode of WHR, Dr. Rachel and I deconstruct "false self" and what that looks like in our lives.

Often "false self" gets espoused as something we are supposed to "demonize" or call out as "not true," or simply see it as limiting, and then suddenly it's tendrils are supposed to miraculously go away. But this kind of thinking actually keeps us held hostage by "false self" because it doesn't teach us how to go into relationship with the part of us that beautifully constructed and relied upon these protective, survival, and coping mechanisms.

Join Dr. Rachel and I as we make clear what healing false self really looks like, how it shows up in our life, how it keep us in less than fulfilling circumstances, and what it really looks like to heal false self. She and I talk about the beautiful side effects of going into deeper reverence and relationship with all parts of our whole human experience and how this holistic healing enlivens us and allows us to follow a more authentic path.
