A few years ago, God gave me a message for teenagers dealing with identity issues, low self-esteem, and insecurity called "The FOUR A'S of IDENTITY". I realize that this message transcends young people and is something that all ages need to hear. Each day this week(through Thursday), I'll be podcasting on each one of these "A"'s that we must deal with in order to walk in our true identity in Christ.
The second "A" is attention. We all know someone who craves attention – maybe it's the class clown who says outrageous things or the person who always has to be the center of drama. These behaviors often stem from a deep-seated need for validation and insecurity.
King Saul is a prime example of someone who craved attention and approval. After David killed Goliath, people praised David more than Saul. Saul became jealous and insecure, leading him to try and kill David. This insecurity not only hurt Saul but also his kingdom. In contrast, David, despite receiving attention, remained secure because he trusted in God.
God should be our source of security. Psalm 139 beautifully illustrates how intimately God knows us. He knows our thoughts, actions, and even the words we will say before we speak them. This profound knowledge should reassure us that we are never out of His sight or care.
