In this episode I finish up my walk through a handout by Baronessa Ginevra Fiammetta di Silvestri. I start off part two with ideas on how to alter your speech patterns to indicate your persona choices and create a more historical atmosphere. We move on to discussing the power of conversation to gracefully influence people, and when to draw the line to enforce your own boundaries. We cover some strategies for navigating tricky situations, and what types of things are likely to come. Manipulation, saying "no", and handling tense interactions all get covered. I explain whorephobia, how it intersects with other forms of bias, and why we should all be working to end it. I wrap up by discussing party safety in SCA settings where alcohol is involved.

We walk through a handout made for the group by Baronessa Ginevra Fiammetta di Silvestri in this episode. In part one I give an introduction to the concept of courtesan's in the SCA and give you advice for getting started building your sex worker persona. I discuss getting into persona (or into character if you prefer) and how to stay there. I give suggestions for fictional characters that are excellent #courtesaninspiration. I go over inviting body language and posture, giving great advice for sprucing up your bows and curtsies. I finish up part one with a discussion of terms of address in the SCA and how to know which ones to use for whom.

Often overlooked as it grows in our society, the history of sex work in Asia is just as varied and fascinating as it's history in the west. In this salon we learn about the historical sex workers of Korea, China, Vietnam, Japan, India, and the Middle East. Soo Yun-nim portrays a Korean sex worker, and she shares her persona story along with the inspiration for it. We discuss the globalization of the SCA and medievalism in general. We get in to some of the challenges of developing a non-European persona in the SCA, and the rewards that far outweigh them.
