Former leader of the School of Government John Sanders died September 22, 2021, at 94. John Sanders, who had been a leading light in Chapel Hill since his arrival on campus more than 70 years ago, serving at study body president in 1950. He joined the staff of the Institute of Government beginning in 1951 and served as director for many years. He has been the go-to man when there was a problem or an opportunity in state government. He was also mentor to many young Carolina students and an inspiration to many others. In this program first aired last year several former students talk about his life of service.
