Who's the humblest person you know? [Luke 18:9-14]

Listen Later

Jesus told a parable about the need for humility. He told about a tax collector who prayed, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner." [Luke ch. 18, verse 13, NIV]. The tax collector humbled himself before God by confessing his unworthiness to be forgiven. He saw his sin clearly, which helped him see his need for God's mercy.

This week as we continue our message series "Not Just on Sunday", we're turning to God's Word to look at humility. We'll find that we get to worship God anytime and anywhere, knowing that we don't have to try to prove our worth to Him by boasting about all of our spiritual accomplishments.

God sent the humblest person who has ever walked this earth to be our Savior: Jesus. The Apostle Paul wrote, "He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death -- even death on a cross!" [Philippians ch. 2, verse 8, NIV].

By Jesus' death and resurrection, He has given us a new identity, a new destiny and a restored relationship with our Heavenly Father. We hope to connect with you this weekend as we worship the One who humbled Himself to save us.
