Picture this…

A group of men, sitting in a converted garage studio, knocking back the suds on a hot Texas afternoon, and talking about their various home handymen projects…

Now picture the men as being blind and visually impaired, and you have the Blind Handyman, with Phil Parr, the creator, producer and host of the show, his compatriots, Don Shaw, Don Patterson and Tom Houston. Together, these men decided to get together to let people know that the blind can accomplish any job, if they have the know-how, and the funds with which to support their projects. The Blind Handyman crew bring you the first of those solutions, and the second one is up to the handyman, blind or not.

Here now is The Blind Handyman, in the hopes of inspiring others the same way they inspired Victor, when he first went blind in 2002. Enjoy, as these four men regale you with tales of their projects and how they accomplished them, and how you can do the same, with just a few tools and confidence.

Zoe’s goal is to give brand new users to MAC computers the tools they need to be able to use a MAC right out of the box. Whether you’re just running a MAC for the first time, or you’re coming to a MAC in the store that you wish to try, you can use these episodes to get started, and as the series progresses, she introduces different strategies and instructions you can use to perform different tasks with a MAC.

Zoe's Greek Easter Sweet Breads (Tsourekia)

Ingredients

Approximately five or six pounds all purpose flour

10 eggs

715 g of sugar

705 g of milk

454 g of unsalted butter

6 g of sea salt

Rind of one orange

14 g Mahlepi

100 g of fresh yeast

One heaping teaspoon of sugar for the yeast.

One standard glass of warm water 105 to 110 °F

1 package of mastik

Two heaping tablespoons of all purpose flour +2 heaping tablespoons of sugar for grinding the mastik

For the topping:

Two egg yolks

2 tablespoons water

Sesame seeds

Extra butter for greasing pans and hands while needing the dough.

Healing Vegetable Soup

Ingredients

½ tsp turmeric

½ tsp black pepper

1 tsp rosemary

1 tsp thyme

1 tsp sage leaves or ¼ ground sage powder

1 tsp basil

1 bay leaf

3 cloves of garlic

Ginger (measured to your liking)

½ onion diced

2 carrots chopped

2 zucchini diced

7 cremini mushrooms cut into bite size pieces

3 medium potatoes diced

1 bunch of kale

Sea Salt (to taste

Olive oil for sautéing vegetables.)

Plenty of water for boiling soup.
