Quebec Justice Minister Simon Jolin-Barrette argues that women's rights have come under attack in other Western countries (like the U.S. after the overturning of Roe v. Wade), and he wants to ensure explicit, permanent safeguards are in place for future generations. The government's goal is to protect a right they believe is currently vulnerable if only secured through court decisions.
