Injuries can be painful — not at all because you are weak or not good enough, but simply because the skills required to excel in this uncharted injury experience belong to a completely different skillset than what has been required of you to become the hardcore competitive athlete that you are. If you can see that it makes sense that this period of your journey might be boring or hard but ultimately rewarding and important, you can frame this conquering of the emotional plane as a fun do-able new challenge instead of a bizarre kinda draining one.
