In this episode, Cody talks about a new church he's been attending and getting plugged into small groups, as well as some interesting things that came to light at the group, revealing a serious problem in many churches. Christians don't know how to read the Bible.
We read every other book in our libraries... well, like a book. But why don't we read the Bible like a book? Instead, we read it like a bunch of verses and skip around and rarely read the verses in context with the passage, chapter, book, or even in context with the overarching narrative of Scripture. This happens simply because this is how Christians are taught to read the bible by their pastors. If pastors know that the Bible is a story and should be read like a story instead of segmented verses, why don't they teach that way?
We talk about this and more in this episode of Good Monsters as we look at modern Christianity and Christian culture from a Biblical perspective.
