Why Churches Cant Keep Church Musicians

Covid 19 has changed the landscape of church choirs. Where do they fit in this new digital environment? Many churches were not ready for the digital church due to the lack of technology and or expertise. With variants keeps on duplicating, we really don't know when it is safe to bring back the church choir. In some cases, it has been reduced to a Praise Team, and that looks like the future of church music.

Building and leading teams is probably the most important role you have as a worship leader. Learning to give musicians breaks so they don't burn out and leave and opening doors for others who may want to serve.

If you're currently facing this tough decision or if you've been at this point in your music career - You are valuable... So, recognize your worth... Some will support you and appreciate you, while others may cast you to the side with a replacement - it's time to STAY ...or perhaps it's time to LEAVE!!!

Covid-19 has had tremendous impact on the church. It has required that services go from live to virtual and some church were not prepared or currently providing services virtually. Church musicians have been laid off temporarily and some permanently. Other have had to take reduced salaries in order to continue to play, particularly musicians who play for a living.

Need church musicians, cant keep them, find the ways to address this challenge faced by many churches today. With 50 years experience as a church organist, director, writer, I think I can clearly answer these issues faced by the church.
