Up The Ladder

Why Do I Devour Books?

Listen Later

Why do you #read so many books? ๐Ÿค”

Do you remember most of the information you gained from them? If not, then what's the benefit of reading so many books? ๐Ÿ“š

I've always been fascinated by this question.

It reminds me of a story I heard in my childhood. A student ๐Ÿ“–once asked his teacher the same question, and the teacher didn't answer him immediately.

A few days later, the teacher took the student to a river ๐ŸŒŠ and showed him a pot ๐Ÿบwith holes. He asked the student to fill the pot with water from the river ๐Ÿ’ง. The student was confused ๐Ÿค”, but he tried anyway. As expected, the water leaked out of the holes, and the student failed to bring the water back ๐Ÿ˜”.

The student returned to the teacher, feeling frustrated, and said, 'I failed. I couldn't bring the water.' But the teacher smiled ๐Ÿ˜Š and said, 'You didn't fail. Look at the pot; it's clean now!'

The teacher explained that just like the pot, our minds are like vessels with holes ๐Ÿง . When we read a book, the information is like the water that flows in and out ๐Ÿ’ง. We may not remember everything, but the process of reading cleanses our minds ๐Ÿง–โ€โ™€, gives us new ideas ๐Ÿ’ก, and helps us grow as individuals.

That's the power of reading ๐Ÿ“š! It's not just about retaining information ๐Ÿ“; it's about the transformation that occurs within us ๐Ÿ”ฅ. And that's why I read so many books ๐Ÿ“–!

So, I encourage you to pick up a book today and start reading. Let the words #transform you ๐Ÿ”ฎ #inspire ๐Ÿ’ซyou, and help you #grow. Who knows, you might just discover a new #passion, a new #interest, or a new #perspective on life.

Happy reading! ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’–
