"Louis Menand, Professor of English and American Literature and Language at Harvard University and a former faculty member of the CUNY Graduate Center, delivers the keynote address of the Fourth Annual CUNY General Education Conference: “Why Is General Education a Problem?""


The conference begins with introductory remarks by Dennis Slavin, Associate Provost of Baruch College. President Kathleen Waldron of Baruch College gives the welcoming remarks. Selma Botman, Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost of CUNY, welcomes the attendees on behalf of the University. Judith Summerfield, Dean for Undergraduate Education of CUNY, introduces the keynote speaker.


The event takes place on May 2, 2008, at the Baruch College Vertical Campus, Room 14-220."
