Later in the conversation, we talk about how Heated Rivalry compares in theme to two other popular queer male shows from this year, Boots and Overcompensating. We explore how Boots' grittier, more realistic depiction of boot camp life contrasts with Heated Rivalry's romance, and how Overcompensating's comedic approach differs in tone.

We end the conversation asking whether Heated Rivalry's success will lead to more adaptations of male-male romance novels, and whether it will open the door for more diverse queer narratives.
