The Tribe of Judah seems to be mentioned much more often than the other tribes of Israel. In fact, from ‘Judah’ comes the word ‘Jews’. Jesus is called the ‘Lion of the Tribe of Judah’. The sceptre of kingship was given to Judah. Yet on closer examination, Judah’s life was not the most exemplary. This must surely lead us to ask, “Why Judah?”.
