When it comes to using influencers for marketing, bigger is definitely always better, right? I mean... RIGHT?Well, nope. Not in my opinion anyway.By far the number one biggest mistake I see when companies and individuals branch out to start an influencer marketing campaign is the simple fact that they always target those with a ton of followers above all else, and shy away from anyone with small numbers. This in my opinion, isn't the way to go. Especially, if you only have a limited budget to work with.You see, as I talk about in this episode, sometimes targeting smaller influencers will get you better results. Sometimes in the industry, we refer to these as "micro-influencers", simply because they don't have an enormous audience, but still can reach and impact an audience.I would probably consider myself a micro influencer. I only have around 15K followers on Instagram at the time of this writing, I don't get huge brand deals (actually, any at all), and I'm more dedicated to building an audience via a podcast.However, despite this, I still make more than a full-time living creating content, and reaching (ie; influencing) an audience.There are three major reasons that I don't recommend using large influencers in your marketing efforts, which I'll cover in this episode. Some of them may be obvious (like the increased cost), though I'd say you may not have considered one of the other two. Hopefully.
