Why "More Effort" Isn’t the Diet Fix You Think It Is

Listen Later

Let's say you're an all-in kinda person.

So you clean out your fridge. You hit the gym every day. And you’re on top of everything.

No excuses.

No slip-ups.

And it feels amazing.

Until... it doesn’t.

A tough day hits. You’re tired, stressed, or let’s be honest—just plain over it.

And before you know it, you're right back where you started, wondering what the problem is.

That’s when the usual thoughts creep in...

I need more discipline, more effort, more willpower.

But doing "more" isn't the answer.

I had a friend tell me, “I just started going to the gym more. Two hours every day.”

And while I admired his dedication, I couldn’t help but think, "Ugh! Let’s check back in a week and see if that’s still happening."

And that's because I’ve seen it too many times...

When we try to do the unsustainable, those two-hour gym sessions turn into zero-hour gym sessions.

And those "no snacks at all" diets eventually become "all snacks, all the time" diets.

Banking on "more" leaves us frustrated, burned out, and right back at square one.

Every. Single. Time.

But the problem isn’t you.

It’s your approach.

So what if doing less could actually help you do more?

I know it sounds backward. Maybe even counterintuitive.

But it’s the strategy that leads to long-term consistency.

Because success isn’t about doing it all. It’s about figuring out what’s doable—and doing that over and over.
