Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. Reparations represent compensation paid to descendants of former slaves. While the idea has some superficial appeal, it is profoundly unbiblical. That’s because, in a Christian nation, we do not punish sons for the sins of their fathers. In a culture governed by Judeo-Christian values, each man is to be held accountable for his sin, but not for the sins of others. As Deuteronomy 24:16 says, “Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.” Ezekiel 18:20 says the same thing. “A son will not bear the iniquity of his father, and a father will not bear the iniquity of his son.” The only debt we do owe to each other is the obligation to love each other, and that’s a debt we will always owe.
