Why That Snack Request Feels Like a Personal Attack

Listen Later

This episode was about capacity—the invisible thing that makes all the difference.Because when your tank is full, you can handle a snack request without spiraling. And when it’s empty? That same request might send you into full shutdown mode.

It’s not about being dramatic. It’s about being honest with where you’re at—and what you need.

So let’s get curious (not judgmental) and make a little space to reflect.

As always: you don’t need a perfect notebook. The back of an old grocery list works just fine. I’ve also been known to write things out in my Notes app between errands. Do what works for you.

Quick Recap:

When we’re running on empty, everything feels harder.

But when we build capacity, we give ourselves margin—room to breathe, pause, and respond instead of react.

This isn’t about perfect balance. It’s about noticing and refilling before we hit that breaking point.

Journal Prompts:

* How do you know when you’re at (or near) capacity? What are the signs in your body, mood, or habits?

* What helps you feel grounded, calm, or more like yourself again?

* Make a “refill menu”—a short list of small, doable things that help restore your energy. (Ex: a walk, a slow morning, texting a friend, music that lifts you.)

* What’s one thing you can remove or say no to this week to protect your energy?

I’ll be back next week!
