I am so honored to have Rebecca (Bex) Feltmann back on the podcast today. If you haven't listened to my previous episode with her on navigating grief, please do so! We brought up the subject of addiction a little bit in that episode and I knew immediately I wanted to have a whole episode on it. One of the unfortunate ways that people have chosen to cope during these hard times is with addictive substances in an attempt to soothe the pain and trauma of what has happened. As humans, we are wired for connection, and when we don't properly receive that love and connection, the body looks for a substitute.
The astrology of 2022 specifically points to a need to work through our relationship with the substances that we use to numb ourselves - with so much planetary energy in Pisces, which rules addiction. Even if you yourself have never had addictive tendencies, it's likely that someone in your life has. We talk about how to be in relationship with people in our lives who suffer from addiction, how to create boundaries while still loving them, and so much more.
This episode is dedicated to my brother Michael, who we lost to addiction in 2007. He was 21.
