1 Corinthians 14:26 How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, and has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification!

We are finishing up our conversation that we began last week on prophecy this weekend! Prophecy, as we mentioned, is speaking the words of God, speaking the very Word of God that is Jesus, to one another for the purpose of building and edifying the body.

Without the gift of prophecy, we can easily wallow away in self pity, fall into our pits of despair, but a prophetic word is a gift from God that penetrates our very soul (like the writer of Hebrews speaks of in chapter 4!).

We never know what someone is going through, but we do know God and He knows them and their situation. So as we lean into God, ask the Lord for words, He will give us the very thing to say at the perfect moment that can bring life, love, and encouragement.

The Gift of Prophecy is such an important gift that was given to the Church for our own benefit, to make us see God's hand in the midst of trials and tribulations at times and to remember that He knows us and loves us.
