I’m almost there.

Yes, it’s painful,

but it’ll be deadly

if I don’t regain control.

My world is spinning.

Up and down are meaningless now.

My life has just turned upside down and I don’t know how to make it right again - everything seems to be collapsing around me now.

Twenty-seven years ago, to this day; that was me, that was my state of mind.

Then came H.O.P.E., spawned from my childhood, passed onto me by my parents and their family before them. H.O.P.E. was all I had to survive, to get up, and make something of myself.

It’s hard to fix what we see but don’t fully understand. Homelessness has been with us since the beginning of civilization and yet the issue may as well be invisible. For it still hounds us today and plagues the unfortunate ones that enter it’s grasp. I have had the pleasure of working with many individuals and groups in my career, the one thing that I learned is that no one perspective is the same – every thought and experience is unique and yet, many feel validated when they hear about someone working and thriving through similar challenges with new approaches. To me, we need your voice, your inner reflections to help surface challenges that many are facing today, for the most part alone. The world needs you to speak, if only to remind them that we are all in this together.

It’s the one real thing we have in common with everyone.

We all want to speak, to express ourselves in whatever fashion we choose.

What holds many of us back is fear of judgement, fear of rejection, fear of persecution.

In order to truly express ourselves we need a space, free from scrutiny, free from outside influences, where the world gets a chance to just sit for a while and listen to what we’re really about.

That’s what this SpeakEarth series stands for. Together we will explore some of the major challenges of our times and more importantly your true thoughts, expressions and ideas about them. Perhaps then we can transform those challenges into opportunités that can help us all grow together.
