Regardless of what kind of political views you hold, it’s probably unlikely that you would Google negative information about the politicians you support. Or when you’re watching sports, like football or soccer, maybe you’ve noticed that when the referee judges that your team committed a foul, you’re highly motivated to find reasons why he or she is wrong. But if they judge that the other team committed a foul - "awesome! Let’s not examine that too closely!" These are examples of confirmation bias - our tendency to selectively look for and process information that supports, rather than rejects, our assumptions and preconceptions, no matter if they are actually true or not in reality.
