  • Melissa In The Morning: It's In Our Blood?
Here are some of the top health stories we tackled with Dr. Browne:

    1. A team of researchers from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is announcing the finding of a new drug to help treat people who are genetically pre-disposed to Alzheimer's.  The drug could potentially prevent the disease in patients. The findings, originally published last month, show the drug targets a specific gene, the so-called Alzheimer's gene, which can be present in one or both parents.
    2. A California lab may be on the verge of a medical breakthrough.  Scientists at Stanford University are working on a blood test that could potentially save millions of lives by detecting cancer much earlier than before.  The test could also reportedly tell when patients are cancer-free so they can stop their medication sooner.
    3. Switching up arms for multi-dose vaccines could improve immune response by up to four times.  That's according to new research out of Oregon Health and Science University, which looked at how people received COVID-19 vaccine shots.  Researchers say it could have implications for other types of vaccines as well.  There's no clear answer yet as to why switching arms improves results.

    5. Melissa in the Morning: What can Bill Belichick Teach us?
It was one of the biggest sports headlines to start the new year. The New England Patriots and Bill Belichick decided to part. Belichick said in a press conference last month that he is moving on from the franchise he spent 24 seasons with. Belichick, however, did have one year remaining on his contract. And now in the aftermath, not one NFL team has decided to offer him a head coach spot for next season. What can we take away from this national story and how does it apply to workers in Connecticut, especially older workers? We got perspective from employment attorney and Quinnipiac law professor, Gary Phelan.
