The more rules, traditions, do’s and don’ts people come up with that the Lord never instructed, the more they have to defend and explain. In I Samuel 14, we see how a foolish, man-made rule wearied the people, limited victory, and ultimately even caused them to sin. Jonathan was the man of the hour whom God used to deliver Israel, but then, something a man—not God—came up with, demanded that he die. This is how religion works— instead of being free to follow the stirrings of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, it wants to limit, hinder, weary, and even kill what would produce victory, all for the sake of man-made rules and traditions. We must pay attention to what God says instead of the voice of religion.

Living by faith in God's Word is not as hard and complicated as religion makes it out to be. When we hear God's voice and know what His will is, we can also be sure that He will back up what He says. The work that comes out of faith is the light and easy yoke Jesus talked about.

When we say what God says, He will back His words coming out of our mouth with power. Jurisdiction also has a lot to do with what happens where. Learn how we don't have jurisdiction in every area and situation, and what we do have jurisdiction over, which is our hearts.
