Wild Horizons - the BMC hillwalking podcast

Rose Gare Simmons, BMC councillor for hillwalkers, takes us up her favourite mountain, Blencathra. She explains why mountains are crucial for her wellbeing and how she tries to share this wellbeing with others.

John Dalrymple takes us on a tour of the Simonside Hills of Northumberland. John looks high to the sky and low to the tiny plants at his feet, as well as back through the centuries of history.

Local mountain instructor, Kirsty Pallas, takes us on a breathtaking journey along the north and south flanks of this incredible glen. Kirsty takes us to some of her favourite locations, some well known, some not, and tells us why the glen means so much to her.

Nature photographer and explorer John Beatty talks about the Carneddau mountains in Snowdonia, and why he goes there in search of connection and space.

Skye's Cuillin mountains are a place of pilgrimage for any mountain lover and its famous ridge is a lifetime dream for many. Local guide Mike Lates (www.skyeguides.co.uk) takes us to these mountains and breathes in their majesty.

For many mountaineers and non-mountaineers alike, the lofty pyramid of Snowdon exerts a strong romantic attraction. The highest peak in Wales and England. Every year many thousands of visitors make their way to the summit. For some it could be their first 3,000 foot mountain.
