Wild on 7th

The Minnesota Wild are wrapping up their first monster roadtrip of the season tonight against the Mammoth in Salt Lake City, and the pod visits with an old friend and recent call up, the Alberta Shawman himself, Mr. Mason Shaw.  Kinger is reeling here in Winnesota, with all the local teams bringing home some dubs over the weekend, and Carts is grinding from the road, with all sorts of story lines to discuss.  Quinn Hughes tally's his 500th point against his old squad in Vancouver, the fan base is still looking for some relief from the contract talks, but overall the godfathers feel good about this trip and how things are looking moving forward.  Give this episode a listen, and feel the same positivity as we head into the Halloween weekend!  

Wild on 7th is back this week after picking up the Upper Midwest Regional Emmy for Best Talk Program. This hardware was part of a series of victories for the Minnesota Wild digital content team, who was also recognized for Best Sports Documentary with Beyond Our Ice, Best Motion Graphics Design by Ryan Gause, and the overall award for Sports Excellence, narrowly beating out the Minnesota Vikings. Carts and King have some fun as they recover from a fun weekend of celebrations, but still have plenty of hockey to talk about. The Wild are certainly being affected by the injury bug, but seem to be persevering quite strongly. This weeks guest is Wild newcomer, goaltender Calvin Pickard who has had his share of career successes as well. Although collecting some differing license plates along the way, Cal is locked in, and loving his time so far with his new Wild squad. Buckle up, and give this weeks show a listen, as the guys traverse North America on this 5 game roadtrip!

John King and Ryan Carter are joined by Minnesota-born Wild forward, #10 Bobby Brink.  Bobby talks about his athletic childhood raised by two sports fanatics, winning the Minnesota State High School Tournament on the Xcel Energy Center ice, and how he's fitting in on his new NHL squad.  Bobby Brink talks about playing in Philly for John Tortorella, how his game changed once he understood the expectations, and how he plans to make an impact on the ice for the Minnesota Wild.  Listen up for a great show with a true hockey spirit and lover of chicken salad sandwiches...Bobby Brink.

The Minnesota Vikings are 4-0, the Minnesota Gophers just beat Michigan to bring home the jug, and Ryan Carter and John King are back in the TRIA studio to talk about the buzz surrounding the undefeated Minnesota Wild (2-0). The guys share some hot takes on the sports landscape around town, as Carts shares his thoughts on coaches crowd surfing, while King is hanging ten on the records and highlights from games all over town. With plenty to rant about, the guys are joined by Wild new-comer Blake Coleman, for stories about his Texas hockey upbringing, the journey that landed him a couple Stanley Cups, and what his plans are in the State of Hockey. Wild on 7th is back baby!  First episode of the 26-27 season, and it's clear, based on the run time of this episode clocking in over 2 hours, that the talent has alot to say.  Joe O'Donnell joins us to kick off the new season and the guys dive right in and come out swinging with their bold predictions on the year.  Kinger does a victory lap, but what do Joe and Cart's have to say about this?  Buckle up for a doozy, and stick around for a summer recap from the Wall of St.Paul, Mr. Jesper Wallstedt.  

Wild on 7th puts a bow on the 4th season of the podcast, with none other than our favorite guest and friend of the show, Wild GM Bill Guerin. Ryan Carter, John King, and Joe O'Donnell sit down with Bill to discuss the regular season successes, the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the disappointments, the opportunities, and most importantly Bill's preferred method of "grilling." It has been an exciting season, with many steps in the right direction, and we truly appreciate all the listeners and followers as we navigate this journey alongside all of you. We are already looking forward to next season, so stay tuned to social channels throughout the off season for up dates on upcoming shows and events, and certainly some looks back at some of the best segments from this season. The Minnesota Wild's Stanley Cup Playoff run has ended in disappointing fashion. After an unbelievable start to game 5, the Colorado Avalanche simply were the better team, and took nearly every opportunity they saw to expose the Minnesota Wild's mistakes. With that said, the Minnesota Wild had a goal disallowed, they hit the cross bar, and there were times that the small things just set them back enough for Colorado to creep in and steal it at the end. This one in going to sting for the Minnesota fanbase, but there were also alot of positives that came out of the series, and the season as a whole. Ryan Carter kicks off the show joined by Kevin Gorg, and is later joined by John King and Joe O'Donnell for a full recap of game 5 in Denver. Give it a listen, and never forget the feeling of the game 3 victory, and ultimately the game 4 and game 5 losses. This is a team right on the doorstep of greatness, but they'll have to wait until next season to show us what they learned.

Game 4 at Grand Casino Arena between the Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche had a different vibe than game 3 in Saint Paul, and the result was indicative of that. Ryan Carter and John King break down the Minnesota Wild loss on Monday night, but this is a best of 7 series, and it's not over. Wild head to Denver today for a Wednesday night matchup and a do or die game. Joe O'Donnell joins the pod and is already planning for the radio broadcast back home in Saint Paul on Friday night! The guys in the room are going to have to dig deep, but this is squad that is fully capable of doing so. Even after a tough loss in game 4, this still feels different, and the panel today will help get your mind set for Wednesdays game. Get outside and take a few deep breaths, because the Minnesota Wild are in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and there is ALOT of determination to make sure there is ALOT of hockey left to be played! Go take the game in Denver!

The Wall of Saint Paul is back and was in full effect last night in the Silver City, in front of a full house, and a packed crowd out on West 7th street outside Grand Casino Arena. The Minnesota Wild earn their first home win in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2014. Ryan Carter and John King walked tall into the studio, albeit a bit stinky from the block party shenanigans last night, but no other way to celebrate this win AND all the Mothers on their special day, than to to deliver a recap of game 3. Joe O'Donnell and Kevin Gorg jump-in to give their flowers to the entire fanbase, along with so many key pieces on the ice last night. Happy Mother's Day everyone! Celebrate all the Mom's along with last nights win, but be ready for another tilt tomorrow night!

Round 2 Game 2, and a Rocky Mountain start for the Minnesota Wild.  John King and Ryan Carter are joined in studio by #21, fan favorite rink side reporter Kevin Gorg, for a cinco de mayo celebration that ultimately ended with the Colorado Avalanche taking a series lead 2-0.  Now the Minnesota Wild have a few days to rest, and like our hosts have said in the past, hopefully "rest is a weapon."  Saturdays game in Saint Paul is sure to be an electric atmosphere, and will kick off at 5pm with a block party leading into a watch party on West 7th St.  Come down to Saint Paul whether you have tickets or not, and enjoy a live experience with the hosts of Wild on 7th, the Red Bull DJ truck, beverages, and more.  The Minnesota Wild look to even up the series on home ice, and Grand Casino Arena is going to be rocking.
