American society is used to blaming teenagers for everything.

87% of Mass Shooters are over 21. That's according to the Washington Post's own data.

The stupidity of their article is fierce.

Accusing our young people of having deficient brains is vile AF.

According to the Washington Post 72% of mass shooters are over 25.

Age discrimination can at best address a tiny fraction of the problem.

Why couldn't the Washington Post spend 5 minutes looking at the numbers?

Why does the age of adulthood rise year after year? Should it? Is it a good thing that you'll be treated like a juvenile well into your 30s?

It is a scientific fact that people grow up faster now. We are taller younger. We start and finish puberty significantly earlier than 100 years ago.

But rather than acknowledge the fact that we're reaching adulthood quicker, our society has decided to act like we are children much longer.

It's a bizarre delusion which created the widespread myth of a long "adolescence", a concept with zero scientific foundation.

American teens today are infantilized to a degree never before seen in human history.

It's amazing to me that guys like Derek Thompson seem oblivious to this central fact. We treat our youth in a bizarre, unprecedented way. How is that not part of their thought process?

Max Karson's take on the age of consent is atrocious.

Bad laws destroy lives. It is possible to make good laws. We should take a long hard look at how bad our status quo is. We can stop grinding good people into the dirt, but we have to get past Puritan hysteria. We can emulate countries that take a reasonable approach. We can use evidence-based arguments, assess real harm, and stop creating problems where none need to exist.

It is a thorough and comprehensive meta study.

They found nothing alarming about the fact that teens sometimes have sex partners 10 years older than themselves.

Childhood gets extended further and further... while biology and science and the mental well-being of our sons and daughters get trashed.

Raising the age of social adulthood forced millions of young adults into social and legal limbo. Nature made them adults, but society refuses to respect them as adults. It's not healthy for anyone, but our youth suffer most.
